Caribbean: Day 1

Today was day one of our trip to St. Bartholemy. We woke up at 8 AM, headed over to Opa Locka Airport, and met up with the Bruckheimers on their airplane. Flying time: 3 and a half hours.

Chevy ToyOnce we landed in St. Maarten, we drove to the boat we’re staying on, the Chevy Toy. As soon as we got on the boat, we pulled anchor and cruised over to St. Bartholemy. Cruising time: 1 hour.

LaptopsIt was nice to find out that we’re able to get an internet connection in the port, as it makes writing a travel log on my website very easy! It’s very slow, but it does the job. Jerry was pretty happy about it too since he needs to keep up on his emails – he’s a busy man. Also, it’s kind of funny that there’s six Macs on board. I have one, my dad has one, Jerry has one, his wife Linda has one, the captain has one, and so does the first mate. I’m not sure about the rest of the crew, but I wouldn’t be surprised if there were more. That’s a whole lot of Apple.

We relaxed for a while, and then went out to dinner at a restaurant named Maya. I looked at the menu, and the whole thing was in French… We had to have the waitress explain everything. They wound up having an amazing Chicken dish served in a coconut milk sauce with lemongrass. It was absolutely awesome. Desert for me was a flourless chocolate cake, which again was awesome. After dinner, we drove back to the boat, and relaxed some more.

Later that night we popped in a movie, namely Munich. The screener was provided courtesy of Jerry. It was an absolutely amazing movie. If you haven’t seen it, go see it. I think it’s still in theaters.
